Birds throughout human culture are prominent as source of food, pets and spiritual symbols. Bird spirit is the perfect metaphor for freedom and perspective. Due human activity since the 17th century about 120–130 wild bird species have been eliminated and hundreds more before. Right now about 1200 more bird species are menaced with extinction. Most domesticated birds are raised for meat, eggs and feathers mainly in mechanical mass-cruelty. Since the industrial revolution e live in an epoch marked by unlimited growth and apocalyptic exploitation, dramatically threatening the ecological balance more then ever before.
